To apply for a MAP Plus award, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed annually for the academic year that starts on or after July 1.
Award Announcement
Eligibility for a MAP grant is determined first. If a student does not receive a MAP grant for any term during the regular school year, then MAP Plus eligibility is determined. Verification of eligibility, and announcement of an award amount (if any), is performed by the school.
School Requirements
The school is requested to announce MAP Plus awards to the students enrolled at their institution, including students who are only eligible for one term. Schools are asked to clearly identify the awards on the award notification as: State of IL MAP Plus (Est). In addition, schools should notify students who:
- have an incomplete record; or
- have a loan in default.
