Transfer Students
Students may transfer after the end of the sixth semester*. This student should still be included in your roster when reporting your school’s sixth semester data. Identify transfer students on the HSSP 6th Semester Academic Information Roster as follows:
  • place an asterisk next to the student’s name;
  • indicate the student’s class rank and GPA as of the sixth semester at your school;
  • include the name, six digit code, and address of the new high school; and
  • the date the student transferred.

* Sixth semester is defined as the third semester prior to graduation.

Below are some examples of transfer situations and how to complete an ISAC-generated roster.

Example 1

Joe took the ACT exam during the sixth semester at Anytown High School. Joe transferred to Wilson High School during his 7th semester.

  • Joe will appear on Anytown High School's ISAC-generated HSSP 6th Semester Academic Information Roster.
  • The counselor completes ISAC-generated Anytown High School's roster with GPA and class rank data (including Joe's information).
  • The counselor places an asterisk (*) next to Joe's name and provides Joe's transfer date and the name, address, and six digit code of Wilson High School.
  • If Joe is determined to be a State Scholar, ISAC will send the State Scholar Certificate to Wilson High School.

Example 2

Steve took the ACT exam during the 5th semester while he was enrolled at City High School.  During his 6th semester, he transferred to Anytown High School.

  • Steve will appear on City High School's ISAC-generated HSSP 6th Semester Academic Information Roster.
  • The counselor at City High School will place an asterisk (*) next to Steve's name and will provide the name, address, and six digit code of Anytown High School on the roster. Steve's transfer date will also be included on the roster. The counselor would not provide any academic information for Steve.
  • The counselor at Anytown High School will add Steve's name to the 6th Semester Academic Information Rank-in-Class Roster and report requested academic data to ISAC.
  • If Steve is determined to be a State Scholar, ISAC will send the State Scholar Certificate to Anytown High School.

Example 3

Pam was an Illinois resident * while attending an out-of-state high school through her junior year/sixth semester. She also took the ACT exam while attending this school. Pam transferred to Illinois High School for her senior year.

  • Pam's name will not appear on Illinois High School's ISAC-generated HSSP 6th Semester Academic Information Roster.
  • The counselor at the out-of-state high school completes the 6th Semester Academic Information Rank-in-Class Roster and includes Pam's academic information on the roster.The out-of-state high school provides the name, address, and six digit code of Illinois High School on the roster. Pam's transfer date will also be included on the roster.
  • If Pam is determined to be a State Scholar, ISAC will send the State Scholar Certificate to Illinois High School.

    * Note: if the out-of-state school does not provide the information the student cannot be named a State Scholar.

Example 4

Julie attended Illinois High School for her junior year/sixth semester. Julie's family moved and she at Out-of-State High School for her senior year.

  • Julie will appear on Illinois High School's ISAC-generated HSSP 6th Semester Academic Information Roster.
  • Since Julie and her parents are no longer Illinois residents, Julie is not eligible for any of the HSSP scholarships.
  • The counselor places an "F" (a disqualify code that designates Julie is not a resident of Illinois as of June 30, 2011) in the "SS Disqualify Column" of the HSSP 6th Semester Academic Information Roster.

Example 5

Sue attended City High School through her junior year/sixth semester. City High School closed after the 6th term ended. She also took the ACT exam while attending City High.  Sue is now at Anytown High School for her Senior Year.

  • Because Sue took the ACT exam while attending City High, her name will appear on City High Schools ISAC-generated HSSP 6th Semester Academic Information Roster.
  • City High School should complete the 6th Semester Academic Information Rank-in-Class Roster and include Sue's academic information on the roster.
  • City High School should place an asterisk (*) next to Sue's name and provides Sue's transfer date and the name, address, and six digit code of her new school (Anytown High School).
  • If Sue is determined to be a State Scholar, ISAC will send the State Scholar Certificate to Anytown High School.
