2011-12 Payment
2011-12 Award Announcement

The Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program is a federally-funded program that is administered by ISAC. Federal funding was not appropriated for the 2011-12 Byrd Program, and no new awards were announced.

2011-12

Payment

The 2011-12 Eligibility Certification/Payment Request Rosters for the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship (Byrd Scholarship) Program are available to be completed online via the Byrd Payment system at My Zone. Renewal Byrd scholars, who have certified that they continue to meet the program requirements and have indicated they will attend your college during the 2011-12 academic year, will appear on the roster. Students who have not returned a 2011-12 Eligibility Certification form indicating that they continue to meet the program requirements will not display in My Zone.

Due to limited funding, the 2011-12 maximum annual award amount for renewals is $1,020, which displays on the payment roster on My Zone. By electronically submitting a completed roster to ISAC, a college certifies that the student meets all eligibility criteria. Payment claims for the Byrd Scholarship Program must be electronically submitted within 30 calendar days after Eligibility Certification/Payment Request Rosters are available at My Zone (i.e., the date that appears on the roster). It is important to complete and submit payment rosters on a timely basis so that ISAC can monitor the fund balance throughout the academic year.

Refer to the following pages for details about accessing the Byrd payment system or about the payment process.

Colleges will not be notified each time there is Byrd Scholarship activity at My Zone; therefore, encourage staff to check My Zone regularly for new Byrd Scholarship payment request rosters that have not yet been submitted to ISAC.

Award Announcement

ISAC sent eligibility letters, the Eligibility Certification forms and an Information and Student Responsibilities documents to qualified renewal Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Scholars on July 21,  2011. Due to limited funding, the maximum annual award amount for the 2011-12 academic year is $1,020.

Completed Eligibility Certification forms were due back from students to ISAC on or before August 8, 2011 so that their college will be able to request payment on their behalf for the 2011-12 academic year. A Notice of Disqualification was sent to applicants who did not return a 2011-12 Eligibility Certification form by the deadline. Students who received a Notice of Disqualification, must submit a letter of appeal with a complete 2011-12 Eligibility Certification form to ISAC on or before October 17, 2011. If an Eligibility Certification form is not received by October 17, it will be assumed that the student is refusing the scholarship and eligibility will be forfeited.

Refer to Award Determination and Notification for the Byrd Scholarship for specific details about the awarding process and links to the notifications and forms
