Qualification

The Initial Qualification process for the 2008-09 academic year is scheduled to start on June 2, 2008. Be sure to make all corrections to certification records prior to June 2nd. Remember that corrections cannot be made online at My Zone after an eligible record has been qualified. Correction requests after Qualification must be submitted to ISAC.

Refer to the Student Certification Entry Instructions to learn about submitting a certification, obtain a complete list of the status codes returned after a certification record is processed and making corrections before and after a record has been qualified.

Certification

Note:  The Initial Qualification process for the 2008-09 academic year is scheduled to start on June 2, 2008.

IFTC and MTI Initial Certification records for the 2008-09 academic year can be completed online and submitted electronically to ISAC via My Zone. My Zone is available to enter certification information each Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. (CT).  Results are available in real-time.

An Initial Certification record is created in My Zone when the student’s TESP Application is complete. All Initial Certifications available in My Zone must be completed regardless of whether the school certifies a student as eligible or ineligible. The only way an applicant will receive one of the Notification letters is if the Initial Certification is submitted via My Zone.

An overview of the online Certification process, instructions to enter and submit certifications to ISAC and how to request a report can be found in the TESP Certification area of My Zone. An overview of the certification process for the IFTC Program and the MTI Scholarship Program is also provided within each program in the Gift Assistance area at College Zone.

Application

The online interactive 2008-09 Teacher Education Scholarship Program Application is available to students.

For priority consideration, ISAC must receive a complete application on or before March 1, 2008. Only applicants with a valid digital ID from the State of Illinois will be able to access the online application. Once the online application has been successfully submitted, a Confirmation page will display to verify the exact date and time it was received by ISAC and may be printed by the applicant.  Applicants who are unable to apply online should contact a College Zone Counselor at 800.899.4722 for assistance.

To assist you with questions you receive from students regarding the TESP application process, refer to the  pages within the Teacher Education Scholarship Program section in the Student Zone.

The Application Procedures for MTI page within the MTI section of the Gift Assistance area of the FAA Zone, includes details about the application process, instructions to obtain a digital signature and links to a sample of the 2008-09 TESP Application and a sample of the acknowledgement letter.

2007-08

The FY2008 appropriation for the Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship is $3,100,000.

Payment

The 2007-08 Eligibility Certification/Payment Request Rosters for the Illinois Future Teacher Corps (IFTC) and the Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship programs, are due back to ISAC within 30 days of the receipt date at the top of the roster.

The 2007-08 roster is in the same format as the 2006-07 roster. Refer to Payment Procedures page, within this section, for assistance in completing the Payment Request Roster and to access a sample roster, description and certification statement.

Award Determination

Awarding for TESP [Illinois Future Teacher Corps (IFTC) and Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship programs] for the 2007-08 academic year has ended. The 2007-08 academic year award information will remain available in My Zone until awards for the 2008-09 academic year are made, which is anticipated for late summer 2008.

Use the filter functionality and pre-defined report that sort by "Status Date" (available within the Teacher Education Scholarship Programs (TESP) area at My Zone) to help identify students who were awarded during the 2007-08 academic year. As a reminder, the "Status Date" matches the date on the student's award letter. Awards for the 2007-08 academic year were made on 08/16/2007, 8/24/2007, 9/20/2007, 12/27/07 or 2/12/08.

Refer to the Teacher Education Scholarship Programs page in My Zone to learn about accessing student eligibility data using TESP Notifications to generate a report or view information online using the search, filter or sort functions.
