2009-10
On July 15, 2009, the Governor and state legislators reached an agreement regarding the fiscal year 2010 (FY2010) state budget. Absent new revenues and facing a substantial state budget deficit, budget cuts have been made. Consequently, the amount ISAC receives to fund college scholarships and grants, including the MTI Scholarship Program, has been significantly reduced. Based on that budget timely renewals and the earliest, timely new applicants will be funded for full year.
Payment
As announced in a September 17th, e-Message, TESP payment request rosters, (including Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois) can be completed online and submitted electronically to ISAC via TESP Payment Online at My Zone.
Refer to the Payment Procedures for MTI and the TESP Payment Roster section of TESP at My Zone for details about the TESP Payment Roster process and instructions for completing and submitting payment request rosters to ISAC.
Award Announcements
Awarding for the 2009-10 Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois Program and the TESP programs (Illinois Future Teacher Corps (IFTC) the Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship programs) has taken place. Colleges may access new eligible award information (including funded or unfunded status) online at My Zone for Golden Apple Scholars and TESP recipients as of August 25th. TESP award notifications have been mailed to eligible students.
Due to previously-announced budget reductions, it is anticipated that no subsequent awarding will take place for these programs for the 2009-10 academic year. In order to ensure that all applicants at a school are included when awarding takes place, all Initial Certifications that are available at My Zone must be completed and returned to ISAC as soon as possible.
More details are available in an August 25th e-Message.
Refer to the Teacher Education Scholarship Program page in My Zone to learn about accessing student eligibility data using TESP Notifications to generate a report or view information online using the search, filter or sort functions.
