Interactive Application
The online interactive 2009-10 Illinois National Guard (ING) Grant application is available to students. Remind applicants in the Air National Guard that they must provide the base on the 2009-10 application.
To assist you with questions you receive from students regarding the ING online application process and to access the interactive application, refer to the pages within the ING Grant section of the Student Zone.
Refer to the Application Procedures for the ING Grant page within this section of the FAA Zone, for an overview of the online application process, application confirmation information, deadline dates a sample of the acknowledgement e-mail and a link to the interactive ING Application.
To receive full-year consideration for the 2009-10 ING Grant Program, ISAC must receive an application on or before October 1, 2009. The spring term application priority consideration date is on or before March 1, 2010. For summer-term consideration only, applications must be received on or before June 15, 2010.
Budget Packets Available Online
As announced in an April 10, 2009 e-Message, the 2009-10 budget packets for the Monetary Award Program (MAP), the Illinois Veteran Grant (IVG) program and the Illinois National Guard (ING) Grant program are available to download online. The Gift Assistance Budget Packet is to be used by schools that participate in ING, IVG and MAP. The Monetary Award Program (MAP) Budget Packet is to be used by schools that participate only in MAP. Only one type of budget packet needs to be submitted.
These budget packets are available in both Portable Document Format (PDF) and Microsoft Word. The preferred method of submitting the budget packet is electronically as an attachment via the e-mail account of the Financial Aid Director. A complete budget packet, submitted electronically or via paper, must be received at ISAC on or before June 1, 2009. If a school's annual budget is not final by June 1st, the budget packet is to be returned with estimated figures and a letter from the financial aid director that provides the approximate date by which the final budget will be submitted. All final budgets must be received at ISAC on or before August 1, 2009.
Access the budget packets, instructions and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS) for the MAP, IVG and ING Grant programs by selecting the "Budget Reporting - MAP, IVG & ING" option from the left-hand margin menu of the FAA Zone Processes area.
2008-09
The FY2009 appropriation for the Illinois National Guard (ING) Grants is $4,480,000.
Payment
ING payment requests for the 2008-09 summer term can be completed online at ING Payment Roster at My Zone. Both initial and supplemental payment summer term claims are due to ISAC on or before July 1, 2009. With the July 1st final close-out date for 2008-09 ISAC-administered gift assistance programs quickly approaching, schools are strongly encouraged to submit ING Grant payment claims for summer 2009 as quickly as possible.
The 2008-09 spring term claims will be paid at 100%. Payment of summer term claims will occur after the July 1st due date, once it has been determined what proration factor, if any, will be necessary to pay ING Program awards for this term. If proration is necessary, then no late claims will be paid.
Refer to the Payment Procedures for the ING Grant and ING at My Zone for details about the ING payment process, instructions for completing and submitting payment request rosters to ISAC and how to view voucher information.
ING Payment Roster at My Zone
As announced in a December 5th e-Message, the availability of ING payment voucher information at My Zone is the latest component of the online ING Grant process. The initial release of ING Payment Roster provided the ability to complete and submit ING Grant payment request rosters in a secure, electronic method of transmitting initial, supplemental and out-of-district claims data for the ING Grant program to ISAC. With the recently added enhancement, voucher information will be available online for each ING payment request after rosters are processed and a voucher number and voucher date have been entered into the My Zone system by ISAC.
ISAC will continue to mail payment vouchers to colleges. As vouchers are received, colleges should access ING Grant payment rosters at My Zone and then use the voucher number and voucher date on each roster to match payment data for individual student records. Having access to the vouchered rosters at My Zone replaces the photocopies of ING Grant payment rosters that were previously included with the voucher mailings. As a reminder, the voucher number and date on the ING Payment Roster View screen allows colleges to match data with ING payments received from the Illinois State Comptroller's Office.
Notification of Eligibility Available at My Zone
The of Illinois National Guard (ING) Grant Announcement Rosters for the 2008-09 academic year are available online at My Zone. The ING Grant Announcement Roster provides information for each applicant who has applied for the ING Grant with your institution listed as the college of record, and for whom the Illinois Department of Military Affairs (IDMA) has confirmed eligibility as of the date printed at the top of the first page of the roster.
This initial set of 2008-09 rosters (dated August 13, 2008) corresponds to student letters dated August 13th and includes data for complete applications received through the end of May 2008. As a reminder, new announcement rosters are posted at My Zone when eligibility verifications are received from IDMA, possibly each day.
The ING Grant Announcement Rosters, which are designed to assist in the financial aid packaging process by notifying colleges of eligible ING Grant applicants, may be used in place of collecting copies of the Notice of Eligibility letter than ISAC sends to students.
Details regarding the ING Grant announcement roster process, including important reminders, are provided at the Illinois National Guard (ING) Grant area of My Zone.
