ISAC staff regularly counsel students and parents, as well as work closely with schools and lenders, to ensure that borrowers are aware of their rights and responsibilities and the potential consequences of defaulting on their student loans. The Default Prevention Outreach Department participates in numerous training and outreach events including on-campus presentations for students on personal financial literacy. Because personal financial literacy is a cornerstone of ISAC’s default prevention outreach efforts, we visit school campuses and have qualified instructors provide one hour interactive presentations on personal finance. We encourage schools to schedule a presentation during student orientation or early in the student’s college career.
