MAPnet Enhancement Regarding Students at Two-Year Colleges

The 2008-09 MAPnet system, which is used to administer awards for the Monetary Award Program (MAP) and the Silas Purnell Illinois Incentive for Access (IIA) Program, has been enhanced. The system now provides more information to assist two-year colleges identify students that have reached the maximum 75 MAP Paid Credit Hours at or below a grade level two (2). In addition, the system will automatically reject payment requests that are submitted on behalf of students attending two-year colleges who have previously reached the maximum 75 MAP Paid Credit Hours.

MAP Payment

The 2008-09 payment processing cycle is available via MAPnet and File Transfer Protocol requests for the MAP and IIA Program. Normal daily processing of payment requests wtlh payment results is available to colleges as usual.

The status of payment to colleges can be tracked through the State of Illinois Comptroller's Web site. Use the "Vendor Payment" area of the site at any time throughout the year to make inquires about pending payments for MAP, IIA and ISAC's other gift assistance programs. Anticipate that it will take 6-8 weeks for funds to be issues from the State of Illinois Comptroller's Office once that office receives the voucher from ISAC.

Refer to the MAP and IIA pages within the Gift Assistance area of the FAA zone for up-to-date news and guidance about each program. Details regarding the 2008-09 MAP & IIA payment processing cycle are available within the Payment chapter of the MAPnet User Guide, as well as in the MAPnet Help Text and the Payment section for each program.

ISAC has suspended the announcement of 2008-09 MAP grants for all students whose initial 2008-09 FAFSA is received by the Central Processing System (CPS) on or after July 26, 2008. As a reminder, the suspension of award announcements affects new and continuing students regardless of enrollment status.

MAP Recompute

The verification of the recompute data has been completed and the MAPnet system is available for awards to be calculated using the 2008-09 recompute formula that was approved by the ISAC Commissioners on June 27, 2008. The 2008-09 (FY2009) MAP recompute formula retains the FY2009 start-up formula, therefore no award amounts have changed as a result of the recompute process.

The 2008-09 MAP Formula section, including the 2008-09 Hand Calculation Forms, has been updated to reflect the recompute formula. Details of the FY2009 MAP Recompute Formula can be found within this section, as well as in the June 27th Agenda Book (Item12).

2008-09 MAP-IIA File Specifications

The MAP-IIA File Specifications have been updated for the 2008-09 processing cycle. This 160-byte file layout is pertinent to schools utilizing the file extraction features of MAPnet, or sending payment requests for MAP or the IIA Programs to ISAC via File Transfer Protocol (FTP). No changes have been made for 2008-09 processing. The 2008-09 MAP-IIA File Specifications are available within the Electronic Tools section of the e-Library.
