Students Warned that Future Potential Employers Can Access Online Postings
3/20/2007

A March 19, 2007 article reports that an increasing number of companies are searching online social networking sites (such as Facebook, MySpace and YouTube) for postings about potential employees. Stories, photos and videos that are placed online today could impact a student's future job prospects. A 2006 study, conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, found that over 10% of employers currently review online profiles as part of the hiring process, and more companies anticipate doing so in the future. Consequently, some college career counselors are advising students to avoid posting anything online that they would not want a potential employer to see.

The article is available at the NBC5.com (Chicago) Web site.
