A March 7, 2007 CNN article spotlights a publicly-funded charter school in Georgia that builds its curriculum based on a goal of preparing students for success in the local business community. The Central Educational Center (CEC) is required to meet Georgia state standards and administer state standardized tests to its students. In addition, the CEC uses input from local businesses to determine what specific skills will help students as they enter the workforce. In some cases, students spend time at local businesses and gain first-hand knowledge about how they function. The CEC has received national recognition as one of 30 replicable model high school programs in the United States.
