A March 6, 2007 article from The Associated Press reports that some college students are paying private companies to assist them with the process of identifying and applying for internships. It is estimated that approximately 75% of all college students graduate with some form of internship or other professional work experience. As the long-term benefits of internships are becoming more evident to students, the level of competition is rising. Consequently, some college students are willing to pay companies to locate potential internships and assist them with the application process. College administrators are concerned that these students are paying money for information that, with enough time and effort, could be obtained at no charge.
