Technology Allows Class Participation with the Click of a Button
2/28/2007

A February 28, 2007 article from the Chicago Sun-Times spotlights a classroom technology that was developed by physicists at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The "iclicker" is a devise that allows college students to answer questions by clicking a button, and then the class' combined results are displayed in the front of the room as a bar chart. The iclicker is currently being used in DePaul accounting classes. The technology is useful for class discussions and test preparation, because students can see how their responses compare to those of their peers. In addition, professors are able to see which students provide specific responses - information that can be used to grade quizzes or identify students who may need additional assistance.

The article is available at the Chicago Sun-Times Web site.
