A February 19, 2007 article from The Associated Press highlights the Community High School of Vermont, which is run by the Department of Corrections. With 3,500 registered students and classes offered at jails and prisons, it is the largest high school in the State of Vermont. While evaluation methods and schedules are flexible, students of Community High School must earn the same number of credits as other high school students in Vermont in order to earn a diploma. There are 60 paid teachers, and 250 volunteers, in the Community High School system.
