According to a November 2, 2006 Inside Higher Ed article, a recent poll conducted by Harvard University's Institute of Politics indicates that nearly one-third of 18- to 24-year-olds surveyed plan to vote on November 7th. Historically, voters in this same age bracket have had a roughly 21% turnout at mid-term elections. The survey included college students and young adults who are not attending college. Young adults have demonstrated increased levels of social engagement, including volunteerism and political awareness/involvement, since the events of September 11, 2001.
