An October 18, 2006 article from The Associated Press reports that the National Football League (NFL) is funding a $1.5 million campaign to promote exercise and other activity in the classroom. Designed with assistance from the American Heart Association, the "What Moves U" program anticipates participation from approximately 25,000 middle schools across the country. By increasing the activity level of students, the program aims to reduce childhood obesity. In addition to encouraging more physical activity during the school day, the campaign also includes print and broadcast public service announcements and a special Web site.
