An August 30, 2006 article from the Chicago Sun-Times reports that today's high school classes are very different from those in previous decades. More emphasis is placed on making classes seem interesting and relevant to teenagers, while still teaching them the basic information that they need to learn. Grades, which were previously based solely on individual assignments, now also reflect how well students participate in group projects. Experts believe that students who are actively engaged in the learning process are more likely to finish high school, as well as succeed in college and/or the job market.
