Towns Surrounding College Campuses Influence Prospective Students and Faculty
8/23/2006

According to an August 23, 2006 posting from Inside Higher Ed, many colleges are encouraging downtown areas in their proximity to increase commercial and residential development, in an effort to attract prospective students and faculty. Communities surrounding college campuses, which had been predominantly rural, are now seeing downtown areas emerge. When deciding whether to join a campus community, prospective students and faculty are interested in what opportunities will be available to them - both on campus, and in the surrounding area.

The article is available at the Inside Higher Ed Web site.
