Helping Freshmen Make Transition to Life in College
8/11/2006

According to an August 10, 2006 Daily Herald (Chicago suburbs) article, today's college freshmen take a bit longer to claim their independence when making the transition from home to life on campus. College-aged students, as a whole, come from families that provide a great deal of structure and supervision. When they arrive at college, it may take a while for freshmen to feel comfortable with setting their own schedule and making their own decisions. To assist in this process, many college administrators are revising freshmen orientation programs to provide new students with the additional guidance they may need.

The article is available at the Daily Herald Web site.
