Illinois School District Among Those Receiving Federal Grant for Student Character Development

According to a July 26, 2006 press release from the U.S. Department of Education (ED), Illinois School District #15 (Wood River - Hartford) is one of several across the nation that will share $15.5 million in federal grants for programs fostering character development and a sense of civic responsibility in students. Made possible through the Partnerships in Character Education Program, the grants may be used for up to four years in the implementation of character education programs. Requirements for qualified programs, as well as a listing of all 2006 grant awardees, are included in the press release.
