Veteran Teachers Learn How to Serve as Mentors
7/6/2006

A July 3, 2006 article from the Quincy Herald-Whig reports on an initiative in the Quincy (Illinois) School District that trains veteran teachers to serve as mentors for those new to the profession. During a two-day workshop, teachers are prepared to serve as mentors during the upcoming school year. Those who receive the training now will, in turn, train new mentors next year. One goal of the program is to increase the number of new teachers who remain in the field for more than 5 years.

The article is available at the Quincy Herald-Whig Web site.
