Experts Concerned Over Sedentary Lifestyle of Children
6/23/2006

According to a June 22, 2006 CNN article, health experts are concerned about the fact that many children do not get a sufficient amount of daily physical activity. Fearing that it may not be safe for children to be unattended outside, more parents are keeping their children indoors - where the most likely activities are playing video games or watching TV. Data from 2003-2004 shows that 17% of children between the ages of 2 and 19 were overweight, which is more than double the percentage that existed in the 1970s. The article points out that any type of regular physical activity is likely to benefit a child's overall health.

The article is available at the CNN.com Web site.
