Some Colleges Seeing Significant Drop in Applicants' SAT Scores
5/10/2006

A May 10, 2006 article from USA Today reports that several colleges across the nation are seeing a significant decrease in applicants' average SAT test scores, despite the fact that college-prep coursework and class rank have either remained steady or increased. While a specific reason for the drop in scores has not been identified, some college administrators question whether the new SAT format (which includes a writing component) may be a factor. Corresponding scores from another college entrance exam, the ACT, have not shown a similar decrease.

The article is available at the USA Today Web site.
