Survey Finds Illinois Teachers Want More Training in Emerging Fields
4/6/2006

An April 5, 2006 press release from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) discusses results of the online Illinois Survey of Critical Technologies, which was recently conducted by the Public Opinion Lab at Northern Illinois University. According to the survey, which included over 1,200 participants, the majority of science and math teachers in Illinois do not feel they are adequately prepared to instruct students in emerging fields that are expected to be in high demand over the next decade. Experts are encouraged by the fact that those surveyed indicated a strong desire to learn more about these fields, and hope that educators, employers and policy makers can come together to bring about necessary changes.

The press release is available at the ISBE Web site.
