College Rejection Sometimes Upsets Parents More than Students
4/4/2006

An April 2, 2006 article from The Washington Post provides a University of Virginia admission officer's perspective on how some parents react when students are denied admission to their college(s) of choice. While years ago, disappointed parents were less likely to question a college's decision, it is not uncommon for today's admission counselors to receive phone calls or e-mails from parents who want an explanation of exactly why their son or daughter was not offered admission. In some cases, students seem to be less surprised by denials than their parents are.

The article is available at the Web site of The Washington Post.
