Past Decade Sees Decrease in School Crime Rates
11/21/2005

A November 21, 2005 article from The Associated Press reports that the national school crime rate is approximately half was it was 10 years ago. Based on a recent report from the U.S. Education and Justice departments, the article indicates that the lower school crime rate mirrors a similar drop in crime for the nation's general population.

The article is available at the Chicago Sun-Times Web site. A corresponding press release, which includes a link to the complete text of the report, is available at the U.S. Department of Education's Web site.
