Concern Over Graduation Rate at U.S. Colleges
11/16/2005

A November 15, 2005 article from The Associated Press reports there is growing concern over the high drop-out rate for students attending U.S. colleges. Recent studies indicate that, for students who entered a four-year college in 1997, only 54% had earned a degree six years later. As college expenses continue to increase, experts are concerned more students will incur a high degree of debt without ever completing their education. Current emphasis in the political and education arenas focuses on identifying ways to help students obtain their degrees, rather than concentrating primarily on getting individuals to start college.

The article is available at the MSNBC Web site.
