2005 National Assessment of Educational Progress Results
10/20/2005

An October 19, 2005 article from USA Today discusses the results of the 2005 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), which is a congressionally-required exam administered approximately ever two years. This year's NAEP results show overall improvements in student math skills, but no significant change in reading proficiency. The No Child Left Behind education reform law requires that all 50 states participate in the NAEP.

A corresponding press release from the U.S. Department of Education (ED), also dated October 19, 2005, provides a statement from Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings regarding results of the NAEP (which is also known as the Nation's Report Card). The press release includes a link to the full report.
