A September 22, 2005 article from USA Today reports that the number of U.S. males attending college is on the decline. There are currently 135 females obtaining bachelor's degrees for every 100 males, and indicators show that gap will continue to widen in the future. While many young men who do not attend college join the armed forces or find jobs, others are "non-engaged" (i.e., not in college or the workforce) and some spend time in jail. Specific reasons why less males are attending college, and possible solutions, have not yet been clearly defined.
