Ever Known Life Without Starbucks?
8/26/2005

Not if you're one of this year's college freshmen. An article on the MSNBC Web site discusses an annual compliation of cultural landmarks of the class of students born in 1987. The Beloit College Mindset List, a "glimpse of the world view of each incoming class" was recently released by the college. According to the list, along with a Starbucks on every corner, college freshmen don't know life without pay-per-view television, voice mail and America's Funniest Home Videos. Jimmy Carter is just a name to them, because someone named George Bush has been president for more than half their lives.

While the purpose of the list is to help professors understand more about their students' lives, the school's director of public affairs says it has been used by the Armed Forces and others for training purposes.

To find out more about what the world has been like for the class of 2009, read the article on the MSNBC Web site.
