Report Shows Academic Progress for Teens and Young Adults
8/1/2005

According to a July 29, 2005 press release from the U.S. Department of Education (ED), the Youth Indicators, 2005: Trends in the Well-Being of American Youth report shows that American teenagers and young adults have made significant academic progress over the past three decades. Report findings show the proportion of students aged 25 to 29 who completed college nearly doubled between the years 1970 and 2004. Although average math proficiency increased for all racial groups between the years 1973 and 2004, substantial gaps remain between white and minority students.

The press release is available at the ED Web site.
