Survey Shows Parents Spending Less on Back-to-School Items
7/21/2005

According to a July 18, 2005 CNN/Money article, a survey from America's Research Group shows parents do not plan to spend as much this year on back-to-school products as they have in recent years. Based on survey results, the average amount parents anticipate spending this year is $296.20, compared to an average of $411.24 spent last year. While clothing tops the list of items to be purchased for the new school year, more than half of the survey participants indicated they will ask their children to continue wearing the clothes they wore last year.

The article is available at the CNN/Money Web site.
