A July 7, 2005 article from USA Today reports that, across the country, many colleges host conferences or other outside meetings during the summer months. In addition to generating revenue, allowing conferences on campus also provides the college with exposure to prospective students. Conference organizers and participants benefit from costs that are typically lower than what they could find at a hotel or conference center. Among the colleges mentioned in the article is Wheaton College, in Illinois.
