FTC Issues Consumer Alert for New Graduates
6/29/2005

A June 23, 2005 press release announces that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued a consumer alert that provides new high school and college graduates with tips for avoiding scams and protecting their hard-earned money. The How to Be the Class "Value-dictorian" alert encourages new graduates to take measures such as registering phone numbers with the National Do Not Call Registry, safeguarding personal information (including Social Security numbers, passwords and account numbers), and establishing good credit. Individuals are encouraged to ask questions and thoroughly research products and services before releasing personal information or making a purchase.

The press release is available at the FTC Web site.
