Restoring Special Education Funding in Illinois
6/16/2005

A press release dated June 15, 2005 announces that Governor Blagojevich is working with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Illinois General Assembly to restore funding for several key Special Education programs in Illinois, each of which serves critical needs that local school districts cannot meet. Children with autism, deafness, and severe behavioral disorders benefit from these programs. One step being taken is to lift restrictions in Illinois law that limit ISBE's access to Federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B funds. The press release identifies the specific programs that will benefit from this change.

The press release is available at the Web site of the State of Illinois.
