Environmental Ethics Being Explored on College Campuses
3/16/2005

A March 15, 2005 article from USA Today reports that the concept of environmental ethics is being explored at an increasing number of colleges across the United States. Students in the environmental science disciplines are being encouraged to consider how different value systems may impact a community's willingness to make certain changes related to the environment. Future scientists are learning to develop skills related to understanding and interacting with other people, rather than relying solely on hard scientific facts. When addressing the subject of environmental values, many professors stress the importance of each student identifying and being able to defend his or her own values. The overall goal is to help students open their minds, rather than indoctrinating them with any presupposed environmental values.

The article is available at the USA Today Web site.
