Students Preparing for Essay Component on Standardized Tests
3/9/2005

A March 9, 2005 article from the Peoria Journal Star (Peoria, Illinois) discusses the fact that college-bound students are preparing for a new timed essay that will appear for the first time on SAT standardized exams administered this Saturday (March 12, 2005). While the written essay will be required on the SAT exam, an optional writing component will also appear on ACT tests. High school students, with the assistance of teachers and private tutors, have been preparing for the new written component of the exams. Some students feel that the most challenging aspect of the written portion will be organizing their thoughts and composing the essay within the allotted period of time (25 minutes for the SAT, and 30 minutes for the ACT).

The article is available at the Peoria Journal Star Web site.
