More Students Passing AP Exams
1/26/2005

An Associated Press article dated January 25, 2005, reports that the number of U.S. students who have passed an Advanced Placement (AP) exam has increased. Across the country, approximately 13% of the high school class of 2004 passed at least one AP test with a score of 3 or better (on a 5-point scale). The article is based on a recent report from the College Board, which is the nonprofit organization that runs the AP system. Students who pass an AP exam receive college credit for the subject matter on the exam.

The article is available at the CNN.com Web site. A related statement from U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings is available at the U.S. Department of Education Web site.
