Teachers Encourage Students to Complete FAFSA
1/11/2005

A January 4, 2005 article from the North County Times (San Diego, California) explains how some high school teachers gave their students the following assignment for the holiday break: to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The intent of the assignment was to get students (and their families) to realize that there is financial assistance available for college, and that there are set procedures for how to request such assistance. Students filled out the paper version of the application over break and, during the first week of January, seniors then used that information to complete and submit the FAFSA online.

The article is available at the North County Times Web site. While the article focuses on California students, this concept could be applied throughout the country, including in Illinois.
