An August 24, 2009 Chicago Sun-Times article provides tips for parents as they prepare to send their son or daughter off to college for the fall term. Included in the advice from college administrators is: allowing students to make their own decisions; encouraging students to familiarize themselves with the campus community; refraining from being in communication with the student on a daily basis; discussing finances before the student leaves for school; and, being patient and allowing time for the student to adjust to life on campus.
