A July 30, 2009 Chicago Sun-Times article reports on the impact that state budget cuts have had on Monetary Award Program (MAP) grants for the 2009-10 academic year. Due to limited funding and a high volume of eligible applicants, ISAC has suspended the announcement of 2009-10 MAP grants to all students whose initial 2009-10 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is received by the federal processor on or after May 15, 2009. In addition, based on the fiscal year 2010 state budget, MAP awards have been cut in half, with the available dollars going toward tuition and mandatory fee expenses for fall term (i.e., the full first-term award will be paid). No funds will be available to pay spring term awards.
Further details regarding MAP awards are provided within the Student Zone.
