According to a July 26, 2009 article from The Associated Press, ongoing state budget cuts are prompting school administrators across the country to place more students in each teacher's classroom. Although federal stimulus dollars have helped to limit teacher layoffs, the slow economy is cutting into state tax revenue. Because many states count on tax dollars to fund education costs, teachers may have larger classrooms than they had in prior years. In addition, some educators are being asked to teach classes that they may not have taught for many years - or, in some cases, may never have taught at all.
