According to a July 21, 2009 USA Today article, scientists are seeking ways to improve the educational process by utilizing the human mind's flexibility. The introduction of fresh tools and approaches, along with research provided by several different disciplines, is resulting in a "science of learning" that some believe may significantly transform the field of education. Those who advocate a field of learning research (which would include psychologists, neuroscientists, roboticists and teachers) draw on the principle that learning is computational, social and driven by brain circuitry. Scientists believe that students could successfully learn from new teaching tools (such as computer programs or robots) that would provide the same benefits as one-on-one instruction.
