Slow Economy Spurs Increase in Trade School Enrollment
7/21/2009

A July 19, 2009 USA Today article reports that trade schools are seeing a significant increase in enrollment, and many of the new enrollees are older than traditional-aged students. Facing unemployment in a slow economy and uncertain job market, many individuals who are in their 40s or 50s are choosing to learn a new trade to make themselves more marketable. Vocational training programs at community colleges are also seeing an increase in enrollment, including younger students who have recently graduated from high school and are seeking a less expensive way to obtain an education.

The article is available at the USA Today Web site.
