Tips to Help College Students Avoid Credit-Card Debt
6/5/2009

A June 4, 2009 article from the Chicago Sun-Times "Easy" section provides college students with tips on how to avoid unwanted credit-card debt. Recent studies show that, in the past five years, credit-card debt for the average college freshman has increased from $373 to $939. If not used responsibly, credit-cards and debit-cards (which are typically tied to a bank account) can lead to financial trouble for college students. The article encourages students to fully understand all terms before accepting a credit-card, avoid paying with credit unless it is absolutely necessary, and - if unable to pay the credit-card bill in full each month - always at least pay more than the minimum amount that is due.

The article is available at the Chicago Sun-Times Web site.
