According to an April 28, 2009 article from The Associated Press, results from the 2008 National Assessment of Educational Progress reflect improvements in both reading and math for U.S. students. For the first time since 1975, students in all tested age groups (9, 13 and 17) showed an improvement in reading scores. Low-achieving students had the most significant increase in overall test scores, which some experts attribute to the federal No Child Left Behind law.
