College Students Encouraged to Contact Financial Aid Office if Family Finances Change
4/27/2009

An April 24, 2009 Time article encourages students to call their college's financial aid office if, after initially completing the financial aid application process, a significant change occurs in the family's financial situation. For the 2009-10 academic year, 2008 income is reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If the family's projected 2009 financial situation will be markedly different than it was in 2008 (due to unemployment, divorce, etc.), the student should call the financial aid office to discuss their circumstances. In those instances where the financial aid administrator believes a re-evaluation of the financial aid package is warranted, the student will be instructed regarding what documentation needs to be submitted.

The article is available at the Time.com Web site.
