Federal Stimulus Funds Available to Help Qualifying Illinois Schools Improve Cafeterias
4/20/2009

An April 17, 2009 press release from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) announces that federal stimulus funds are available to help qualifying Illinois schools improve their cafeterias. Public and non-public schools participating in the National School Lunch program will be able to take part in the competitive grant process. Under the National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant, each qualifying school will receive a minimum of $1,500, with a total of $3.6 million being awarded across the state. All grant money received by the schools must be used for at least one of the federally-mandated priorities, which include purchasing new equipment and renovating or replacing existing equipment.

The press release, which includes details regarding how schools can access a grant application, is available at the ISBE Web site.
