An April 7, 2009 USA Today article reports that many individuals who have recently lost their jobs are enrolling in college courses to learn new skills and increase their chances of finding work. Faced with unemployment, some are choosing to switch careers - even if doing so may mean less pay than they had been earning in their prior fields. Those who qualify may continue to collect unemployment benefits while also receiving financial aid to help with college costs.
