Tips for College-Bound Students Comparing Financial Aid Offers
4/8/2009

An April 7, 2009 SmartMoney article provides college-bound students with guidance for comparing financial aid offers from multiple institutions. As high school seniors consider which college to attend in the fall, the out-of-pocket expenses their families can expect to incur will play into the decision-making process. Among the suggestions included in the article are: asking the financial aid office to explain any unfamiliar acronyms or terms; confirming that the listed cost of attendance includes all related expenses (as opposed to only tuition, room and board); carefully evaluating the types of aid being offered (scholarships and grants vs. work and loans); and, exhausting all federal loan options before accepting private loans.

The article is available at the SmartMoney Web site.
