According to an April 2, 2009 USA Today article, new college graduates will face a job market that is more challenging than in past years. Reflecting the economy as a whole, employers anticipate hiring approximately 22% fewer college graduates this spring. Some career counselors are hopeful that, because they will need to conduct a more comprehensive job search, college graduates will learn skills that may benefit them throughout their careers. Many graduates are focusing their searches on areas that seem to still be hiring, such as health care, finance and the federal government.
