EPA Plans to Test Air Quality at Schools Located Near Industrial Facilities
3/31/2009

According to a March 31, 2009 article from The Associated Press, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that, within the next 3 months, outdoor air will start being tested for toxic air contaminants at 62 schools spanning 22 states. The schools that will be tested, which include one in Illinois (Chicago), were selected based on their proximity to significant sources of pollution (e.g., industrial facilities). Elementary, middle school and high school campuses will be tested for a variety of contaminants, based upon their location.

The article, which includes a link to the list of impacted schools, is available at the MSNBC Web site.
